Single drum rollers & soil compactors
What we offer: compact and manoeuvrable vibratory rollers with smooth drums for work in urban areas and on thin to medium back-fill layers, powerful padfoot rollers for difficult terrain, single drum rollers with maximum penetration thanks to polygonal drums, machines for embankment construction that impress with their gradeability, soil compactors that excel in large projects and on landfill sites with maximum traction.
With a BOMAG, you’re well equipped wherever you go.
BOMAG single drum rollers for earthworks are powered by particularly powerful and efficient engines. They are equipped with a circular exciter system or BOMAG VARIOCONTROL. The vibratory rollers achieve outstanding compaction results. The circular exciter generates vibration through an unbalanced mass rotating on an axis. On a soil compactor with the VARIOCONTROL system, the drum does not vibrate on a circular path, but linearly. This involves a directed-vibration system.
A BOMAG single drum roller with VARIOCONTROL offers a decisive advantage: the amplitude can be adjusted automatically or manually. Whether gently compacting near sensitive structures or compacting at full power, you always get maximum quality with a minimum number of passes - even when compacting the frost protection layer in road construction or compacting very large areas - the single drum roller can be used almost anywhere.
smooth, padfoot, rock crushing and polygonal drum. In addition, a BOMAG single drum roller with a smooth drum can be quickly converted into a single drum roller with padfoot drum, often also referred to as a sheepsfoot drum or sheepsfoot roller, using the BOMAG Shell Kit. This makes the soil compactor particularly suitable for use on cohesive soils. The padfoot drum increases the surface area, thus accelerating subgrade drying.A BOMAG roller equipped with a rock crushing drum allows rock to be crushed and paved in a single pass. Here too, the powerful VARIOCONTROL exciter provides support.
single drum rollers with a weight of up to 5 tonnes, between 5 and 7 tonnes, and up to 11 tonnes, as well as rollers in the 13, 19 and 26-tonne classes. However, other decisive factors for efficient use are whether the roller is also suitable for challenging terrain and the penetration depth it achieves.
BOMAG single drum rollers with the letters DH in the product code stand out for their excellent handling characteristics and impressive climbing ability: gradients of up to 60% are possible with these earthmoving rollers thanks to their dual-pump drive, which optimally converts engine power into tractive force.
Heavy soil compactors equipped with a polygonal drum bear the abbreviation DI. A polygonal drum can significantly increase a roller’s effective compaction depth. With a weight of just under 26 tonnes, BOMAG’s BW 226 DI single drum roller achieves an impressive penetration depth of 2 m or even 3 m, depending on the subsoil.
BOMAG SOIL COMPACTORS are in their element on large construction sites and heavy subsoil, especially on mineral waste landfills. Stabilising mineral waste effectively on landfill sites is seldom possible with a wheel loader or bulldozer. Their depth penetration is also relatively low. A BOMAG soil compactor (also using static compaction) achieves significantly better results with its staggered deep compaction teeth and high penetration depth into the subgrade. The soil compactor enables spreading, mixing and compacting in one operation. When used effectively on a mineral waste landfill, it can achieve a volume reduction of approximately 10% for the same overburden mass compared to conventional methods.
