Stabilizer and recycler
Modern tractors have impressive engine power: they can now also be used for heavy earthmoving work. A tractor-towed stabilizer can be driven directly via the rear PTO shaft. The advantages of this combination are plain to see: the investment is low, the system is very light and highly manoeuvrable, and a tractor can also perform other tasks on the construction site, resulting in high annual capacity utilisation.
Stabilization is often the most sensible and sometimes the only option, both economically and ecologically. The German Closed Substance Cycle and Waste Management Act stipulates that no soil that can be re-used on the construction site should be driven away.
Stabilization eliminates the need to replace non-load-bearing soils. This process removes moisture from the material by mixing in binders (mix-in-place method), thus improving the compaction properties and load-bearing capacity. By mixing in cement, even unstable soils can be made load-bearing.
On smaller construction sites, in particular, using a tractor-towed stabilizer makes more and more sense. The milling and stabilizer units are an ideal addition to the fleet for construction and service companies involved in earthmoving or soil replacement operations.
The side plates, including skids, are also designed to be particularly thick and durable. In addition, the inside of the mixing chamber is plated with replaceable wear plates. These 18 plates have a Brinell hardness of 540.
The RS 300 tractor-towed stabilizer is optionally available with water injection directly into the mixing chamber. This always allows the exact amount of water required for the reaction of the cement to be injected. The system achieves an even distribution of water across the entire milling width (up to 500 l/min.).
Thanks to their special geometry and arrangement, the double cutting tools create a shovel effect: just like a shovel edge, strongly cohesive soils are first “cut up” and then mixed thoroughly.
BOMAG's most powerful model is designed for use with tractors from 300 to 450 hp. The RS 300 tractor-towed stabilizer is one of the most powerful in its class and is also suitable for larger stabilization, soil improvement and road construction applications.
A very large rotor with a diameter of almost 1.5 m ensures a high cutting speed. The belt box is not pulled through the material to be mixed. At the same time, the long tool carriers enable a very high advance rate in cohesive soils or reduced fuel consumption at lower speeds.
With its strong power belts, the BOMAG RS 300 can reach milling depths of up to 50 cm. The working width of the tractor-towed stabilizer is 2.5 m.
The drive train is suitable for PTO shafts with the standard dimension (1 3/4 inch). At maximum milling depth, the PTO shaft has to overcome an angle of only 5 degrees. The required input speed is 1,000 rpm.
The mixing chamber is particularly robust. The hood is made entirely of wear-resistant steel with 400 HB (Brinell hardness). The large, hydraulically adjustable tailgate, which is hinged high up, makes it easy to adjust the crushing and mixing quality.
An exchange holder system with extra-large double cutting tools—each with a 25 mm diameter—is used. The base of the holder system is screwed on. Each component can be replaced quickly. The advantage: very short service times.
Coupling to the tractor is simple via the 3-point hitch (category 3 or 4). The camber can always be corrected perfectly via the hydraulic top link. The milling depth can then be adjusted hydraulically simply and variably via the independently adjustable side plates. Power is transmitted to the rotor via the PTO shaft, gearbox and two four-part power belts on both sides.
The BOMAG RS 300 is ideally equipped for a wide range of applications thanks to its large, highly break-resistant and particularly durable cutting tools with a shaft diameter of 25 mm.
